Epidemic of Polycystic Ovaries -Roger Mason
You men, please read this column today as you have a wife, mother, sister, daughter, or other loved one that could benefit from this information.
American and European women have epidemic rates of polycystic ovaries (PCOS). These are multiple small, benign cysts on the ovaries. The medical profession claims a mere 4% of women of "reproductive age" have this condition, but the evidence points to much, much higher numbers, especially in women over 30. Girls 13-21 do not commonly get
this, so women over 21 have a much higher rate than is generally accepted. Women can protect themselves by going to a gynecologist to order a sonogram for their entire pelvic area. A sonogram (echogram) is cheap, safe, non-invasive, and very accurate. This will also spot irregular growths, other problems, and even cancer. You'll be protecting your entire reproductive system by doing this, and not just your ovaries. No x-rays- just a nice, safe sonogram. Always avoid x-radiation. Sonograms and MRIs are safe and effective.
Do NOT depend on symptoms here, as some women have them and some don't. The ones who do have symptoms will show such things as irregular periods, obesity, miscarriages, insulin problems, infertility, and "androcity" (excess male hormone problems such as acne, oily skin and hirstutism). You may be able to tell by a high prolactin blood level, high testosterone, high DHEA, low progesterone, and abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Polycystic ovaries are the most common cause of menstrual irregularity, and American women have epidemic rates of this condition. You may show no symptoms at all, even though your ovaries are full of cysts. PCOS is a precursor to more serious conditions including ovarian and other cancers.
What happens here is eggs released stay on the surface of the ovary and produce small cysts of less than 8 mm (about a 1/4 inch). Soon these cysts accumulate on the surface. Less and less progesterone is produced, estradiol goes up, levels of LH and FSH rise, with elevated insulin levels (hyperinsulinism). This whole condition very correlated with high insulin levels and insulin resistance. With insulin resistance your cells do not respond properly to normal amounts of insulin. LH and FSH are more difficult to measure accurately because they vary at different times of the month.
The medical profession admits its ignorance as to the cause and treatment of PCOS. They certainly don't like any natural cures. It's obvious why this condition is now common, where it used to be rare- we eat almost half our calories as fat, we eat low fiber, refined foods, over 160 pounds of various sugars every year, white bread/rice/pasta/flour, too much food, coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, stress, twice the protein we need, twice the calories we need, high estrogen levels, low progesterone levels, lack of exercise, epidemic blood sugar dysfunction, and epidemic obesity. This is anything but a mystery.
If your sonogram comes back verifying ovarian cysts, walk out of the doctor's office now that you've been diagnosed and stay out! Do not let the doctor talk you into toxic drugs and surgery to cover up the symptoms. Certainly do not let them remove your precious ovaries. This is female castration plain and simple. Do you want to be castrated? Doctors usually feel women don't need ovaries after they bear children! More proof they're all nuts. Isn't this proof they're all nuts? Would they castrate themselves because they don't want any more children? Do not get a laparoscope, lasering, gonadotropin therapy, clomiphene, Metformin, hormone therapy, and the rest of the symptomatic and very harmful treatments the medical profession will offer you.
Read No more Horse Estrogen! and take the advice in it. Change your diet to a high complex carbohydrate (whole grains and beans), low calorie, LOW FAT, high fiber, low protein (that's right), low sugar one. Take the 20 recommended, proven supplements. Test and balance all your basic hormones including melatonin, DHEA, testosterone, pregnenolone, progesterone, estriol, estrone, estradiol, T3, T4, and get your INSULIN TESTED WITH A GTT (glucose tolerance test). High insulin levels are intimately connected to ovarian cysts. Only a GTT will show this, as your blood sugar level may be normal (under 85) The most important test you can get is a glucose tolerance for this. Your fasting blood sugar should be 85 or less.
The cure is DIET, proven supplements, natural hormones, exercise, weekly fasting, no Rx drugs, and limit any bad habits.
Meanwhile, please do go out and get a sonogram. You will have peace of mind if it turns out clear, and you will be able to heal yourself if it doesn't. Click here to return to the article library.
