    Eat All You Want! I -Roger Mason

    You can eat all you want, never be hungry, and stay slim all your life. Just make better food choices. Want proof?  

    Terry Shintani is a medical doctor at the University of Hawaii who wrote the very fine books, The Hawaii Diet and The Good Carbohydrate Revolution. These books are always recommended in my books and columns, as Terry is one of the few sincere people in the natural health field. Get a copy of both these at the public library and read them. You can eat all the whole, nutritious, healthful, and delicious natural foods you want, and be slim and trim all your life. There was a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (vol. 53, 1991) that was headed by Dr. Shintani and the University of Hawaii Health Center. This is more scientific, clinical proof you can eat all you want, stay slim, and never be hungry if you just make better food choices. You don't need to, “go on a diet” at all. Just make better food choices.  
     
    Native Hawaiians have short lifespans and many health problems due to the "Westernization" of their diet and lifestyle. They used to be a strong, slim, and healthy people until about 100 years ago. Terry chose 20 obese Hawaiians for a three week study. These poor people were very overweight, and had numerous heart and artery conditions, blood sugar disorders, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and triglycerides, and other health problems. This is the most difficult type of people to work with because of their general, overall, chronic bad health. He started by  taking their prescription drugs away.

    That's certainly a good start. 
     
    He put them on their native diet of taro, yams, sweet potatoes, breadfruit, various green vegetables, local fruits, and fish. This was obviously not a vegetarian diet, and they could eat all they wanted including up to a half pound of fish every day. In my book, Zen Macrobiotics for Americans it is emphasized  people should eat the foods native to their genetics and climate. Hawaiians are meant by Nature to eat such staples as  taro, breadfruit, mango, papaya, bananas, and other such foods because of their tropical climate and genetics. 
     
    Remember that this study lasted a mere three weeks- just 21 days. What happened in a mere three weeks was no less than amazing. The Hawaiians lost an average of over 17 pounds apiece while eating all they wanted! Who needs to diet? They ate all they wanted to and were never hungry. They simply made better food choices and lost 17 pounds!

    Who need phony weight loss supplements? All this in 21 days. 
     
    Their total cholesterol fell 14% and their triglycerides fell an amazing 42%. Their HDL went up and their LDL went down. Who needs statin drugs?  All this in 21 days? 
     
    Their systolic/diastolic blood pressures fell 7.8% and 11.5% respectively. Who needs blood pressure medication? All this in just 21 days. 
     
    Their blood sugar level fell an amazing 24% in 3 weeks! This is proof you can cure diabetes naturally. Please read my The Natural Diabetes Cure. All this from a high complex carbohydrate, low fat, low protein (please note) diet of whole natural high fiber foods where they ate all they wanted all day every day. And they didn't even exercise! This is real world evidence that the staff of life is complex carbohydrates. For a tropical race in a tropical environment this meant taro, yams and breadfruit. For mainland Americans this means brown rice, whole grain breads, whole grain breakfast cereals, oatmeal, whole wheat pastas, corn on the cob, polenta, barley, millet, rye, and other grains. This also includes all the variety of dried peas, beans, and legumes such as lentils, navy, northern, pinto, black, and others.  
     
    Eat lots of green and yellow vegetables (except the Nightshades tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, and eggplants), soups, salads, local (not tropical) fruits, and seafood in moderation. You don't have to diet, go hungry, eat small portions, limit your calories, or be a vegetarian. Learn to cook in various international styles especially Asian ones such as Chinese, Viet Namese, Thai, Indonesian, and Japanese. You'll learn to richly flavor your food without fat. Nothing is more delicious than natural food prepared in creative ways. Enjoy your food, eat all your want, and stay slim and healthy all your life. Just make better food choices.
