The Reality of Fasting- Roger Mason
Fasting is the most powerful healing method known to man. "Fasting" means water
only; there is no other kind of true fast. All the worlds religions have used
fasting as a basic part of their practice. Few people fast anymore
unfortunately.
Catholics even gave up meatless Fridays, Muslims merely fast from sunup to
sundown, and Jews have a one day fast. You should fast one day a week every week
for the rest of your life. You'll actually come to enjoy it. Just choose your
fasting day and eat dinner one day and don't eat again until dinner the next
day. If an event comes up fast the day before or the day after but never, never
skip your fast. We fast on cruise ships.
There is also a montly two day Young Again International Fast on the last
Thurday to Saturday every month. Please join us for that. Read the fasting
articles in the library.
Your author has wanted to do a one week fast for years. There are people who can
do this at home but very few. There are almost no fasting resorts in the U.S.
There is a health resort in Florida that also caters to fasters for $1,400 a
week on the ocean. The fast started the day before leaving so as to "jump start"
things. This is not a fancy place for that kind of money, but they are very
sincere here and cater to your needs (not your wants). So, the first day of
arrival was the second fasting day and a 15 mile walk seemed in order along with
some weight lifting. The second day (day three of the fast) didn't go so well
and after the morning group three mile walk along the ocean broadwalk the rest
of the day was spent lying in bed and watching stupidvision. During fasting you
will probably find it hard to read, much less study or do anything that needs
concentration. The next day (day four of the fast) I just didn't feel very good
and this feeling continued the next two days thru day five and six of the fast.
Most people get bad headaches after one day of fasting and blood sugar problems
which cause them mental and emotional distress. Also, most people get a heavily
coated tongue from all the toxins that come out.
The director here was very unhappy with your author for walking, running around,
and lifting weights during a fast. He is used to dealing with sick people who
have literally gone into comas from exerting themselves. And he is right when
dealing with sick people- they should not be exercising and pushing themselves
physically at all.
Days five and six of the fast continued with a lot of walking and some weight
lifting. It just wasn't possible to read much, do any mental work or concentrate
on anything. Walking to the mall or any activity gets your mind off not feeling
so good.
Finally, day seven of the fast came and I woke up feeling better. The director
weighed me and there was a NINE pound weight loss!!! Please remember your author
is six feet tall, weighs 170 pounds and has 18% body fat, yet there was a full
nine pound weight loss. Yes, most, but not all, of this will be regained in the
next month. The body fat however fell down to only 17%. It is very difficult to
lower body fat over 50 when you're not overweight.
On the last day of the fast vegetable broth was taken. A half hour later a cup
of pureed bean soup was added to that. Feeling fine, that was followed by a
small, simple macrobiotic meal of brown rice, beans, and a steamed vegetable.
The next morning was a bowl of oatmeal with fresh local fruit and soymilk. You
have to be careful breaking a fast as eating too much will make you very sick.
This has been the most meaningful and beneficial experience of the year. No, it
was not a lot of fun, but the benefits from this are priceless.
You might not want to just drink water for a week, but you certainly can fast
one day every week. And you can build up to join the monthly Young Again
International two day fast every month. Nothing is more powerful than true water
fasting to heal.
