Alternatives to What?- Roger Mason
Dr. David Williams writes a “natural health” newsletter called
“Alternatives”. Alternatives to what? is a good question. His letter is so full
of misinformation, nonsense and stupidity it is pitiful. The sad thing is that
thousands of people pay real money to read this foolishness every month.
“Lowering cholesterol won’t prevent a heart attack!” is his latest claim.
“Cholesterol doesn’t cause heart disease” and “cholesterol is innocent” and
“eating less cholesterol won’t help your heart” are others. He actually tells
you that “The cholesterol in your diet has very little effect on the cholesterol
in your blood.” Folks, your total cholesterol and triglyceride levels are THE
most important diagnostic indicator of heart health we have. Yes, your
homocysteine and CRP (C-reactive protein) levels are also important, but
cholesterol is the most important factor of all. Please read my book “Lower
Cholesterol Without Drugs” to see endless published, international clinical
proof this is true.
Your total cholesterol level should be about 150 mg/dl. The average American
adult is about 250 or 100 points higher than they should be. People on the
Atkins/ketogenic/low carb diet also generally have cholesterol levels of about
250 and higher. Anyone who tells you cholesterol doesn’t count is a moron. The
Framingham study is the largest and longest ongoing cardiovascular health study
in history that included over 100,000 people. This study proved beyond any doubt
that the lower your cholesterol the less heart and artery disease you suffer
from. People with cholesterol levels of about 150 simply don’t suffer from heart
disease generally. Americans with an average level of 250 have the highest rates
of heart disease in the world. Asians in general with the lowest levels of
cholesterol have the lowest rates of heart disease. How can you argue with facts
based on billions of real people?
David also exposes the, “secret reason we’re so fat!” He doesn’t talk about the
fact Americans eat twice the calories they need, twice the protein we need,
eight times the fat we need, that we hog down over 160 pounds of various sugars
every year, or that the food we eat is so refined and devoid of nutrition. In
fact he says foods like butter and eggs are good for you! “If you’re like me,
you love the taste of a big juicy hamburger straight from the grill.” He says
the “secret” is we are deficient in CLA (conjugated linoleic acid)- “the fat
that makes you slim”. Where do you find CLA? In beef, milk and dairy products-
exactly the foods we shouldn’t be eating. He thinks it’s just terrible that we
aren’t eating more beef and dairy products! What an idiot this guy is. Just take
CLA and lose 20% of your flab he says. Good luck! You can drink CLA by the quart
and you aren’t going to lose weight or body fat. CLA doesn’t work folks.
In another newsletter he talks about body and blood pH and how we are too
acidic. He says we shouldn’t eat healthy whole grains such as brown rice, corn,
oats, wheat, rye or spelt. Whole grains should be the basis of your diet. He
doesn’t like beans (pinto, navy, lentils, black, chickpeas, aduki, red, etc.)
either. Beans are another staple of a healthy natural diet. He doesn’t like
other healthy foods like sunflower seeds or fish because they “acidify our
blood”. Instead he wants you to eat fruits (all fruits cause acidity) including
citrus fruits (he says these are alkalizing!!!), potatoes (Nightshades full of
solanine), butter (95% saturated fat), MILK (the worst allergen known), cream,
eggs, yogurt (has more lactose than milk), honey, sugar (yes, sugar), brewer’s
yeast and vanilla extract. No, I didn’t make any of those things up. He pushes
such supplements as MGN-3 (please see the article in the library What About AHCC
and MGN-3) and spirula (see that article too, please) and chondroitin (useless).
What at idiot this guy is.
Does he say anything worthwhile? To his credit he says estrogen therapy for
women causes cancer, soy isoflavones help prevent cancer, Alzheimer’s is
correlated with aluminum intake, aspirin is not good for heart health and a few
other worthwhile things.
How do fools like this actually sell newsletter?
